Feeling different is always challenging. It is easy to recognize when you aren’t like everyone else. Do you have visions? Wake from dreams or nightmares that then come true? Perhaps you see shadows. If you do it is okay, and you are not as different as you may think, you are just more. Many people have extrasensory gifts, but some don’t realize it and some just aren’t as strong as others. Lets take a look at the 6 main types of psychic abilities, and hopefully help you understand yourself and your anomalies a bit more.

Clairvoyance (Seeing)

Have you seen departed family members? Or maybe just glimpses of things in your peripheral vision? If you have seen orbs, sparkles, shadows, flashing lights (spirit lights) or more vivid full bodied spirits these are all indicators that you are clairvoyant. Clairvoyance is the most well known of the psychic abilities however it is the least understood. As you develop this talent you will have to learn how to distinguish if what you see is meant to be taken literally or if it has some other meaning.

Clairaudience (Hearing)

Did you talk with an imaginary friend (once you were over the age of 3)? Do you hear voices? Not schizophrenic voices but people murmuring in another room, or buzzing, sometimes even music that only you seem to hear? Maybe your own inner voice is just loud and demanding telling you what to do and where to go? All of these signs indicate clairaudience. Clairaudients can hear messages that are beyond the plane of our physical ears. Sometimes these may be from entities, or from deceased loved ones.

Clairsentience (Feeling)

Are you easily overstimulated in crowded or loud places? Perhaps you are afraid of the dark, not because of the absence of light but because of the things you “sense” when the lights are gone. Have you ever walked into a new place and shivered, or gotten tingles, or felt that the room was heavy? If you have experienced this it is called clairsentience. You may be more familiar with the term empath. Clairsentients literally feel the world around them, sensations, feelings, emotions, all resonate with a clairsentient as if they felt the emotions themselves.

Claircognizance (Knowing)

Do you just get people? No matter how they look or act it’s like you can see right through to who they really are? Does your intuition overwhelm you and steer you in the right direction? Do you sometimes just know and understand things without ever learning them? This inner knowing is called claircognizance. This particular psychic ability should always be nurtured as your intuition can be as dramatic as saving your life or that of someone you have come in contact with.

Clairgustance (Taste)

Have you ever noticed a bad taste in your mouth for no reason? Perhaps you are looking in the freezer deciding what to make for dinner and have the taste of pizza in your mouth for no reason only to have your phone ring and your friend inviting you over for pizza and a movie. This is known as clairgustance.

Clairalience (Smell)

Do you sometimes smell things that trigger a memory? Perhaps you catch a whiff of a particular fragrance and find yourself coming into contact with it during the course of your day. This is known as clairalience. Since the sense of smell is very closely linked with memory this psychic ability can significantly help us grow and understand the messages we are receiving.
