In celebration of the forthcoming Halloween holiday, let’s explore the paranormal activity of the infamous Amityville Horror story.

In 1975, George and Kathleen Lutz went to look at the Amityville house which was located on 112 Ocean Avenue. It was a three-story colonial on the riverside of Amityville.  When the realtor showed them the house she informed them that murders took place in the house, which Ronald Defeo killed his entire family in the home. Even with the information of the murders that occurred in the house, they decided to purchase the home anyway.

After purchasing the home, the Lutz family decided to get it blessed by a priest because of the murders before they moved in, the priest blessed the house but said he felt a strange presence in one of the upstairs rooms. They shrugged it off and said they were not going to use that room for a bedroom so it would be fine.

Almost immediately after the family moved into the house, strange things began to happen. Strange sounds during the night, cold spots in random places throughout the house, this resulted in personality changes within the family as well, George Lutz began secluding himself from his family and became obsessed with his fireplace. The wife Kathy also said she was being touched by an unknown person, and she would wake up and her face was no longer hers and it took hours to change back to her normal face. The children started fighting more and more, which would result in their parents beating them, Their youngest child would talk to an “angel”, who she said her name was Josie and she would change shapes.

The Lutzes thought they were going crazy, so they invited their friends over to see if they could see or hear anything that was going on, which their friends did, so they knew it was not just them going crazy! The last night they stayed in their house on Ocean Avenue was when they were sleeping George say his wife lift up off the bed and start floating away, the children’s beds were lifting up and down

The Lutzes left the house after this incident and always maintained these strange happenings really did occur.
