Grounding Yourself: Earthing in Simple Steps

The Earth is like a gigantic battery that contains a natural, subtle electric charge. For safety and stability, almost everything in the electrical world is connected to it.

Grounding yourself, also known as Earthing, is putting the body in direct and uninterrupted contact with the earth. To do this skin needs to touch soil, sand, water, or a conductive surface that is in contact with the earth. Grounding yourself has numerous health benefits, but is also a great way to keep yourself balanced, protected, and even to raise your vibrations. Here are just a few ways you can quickly ground yourself.

Going Barefoot

Who doesn’t love kicking their shoes off after a long day? Well there’s a reason for that. Going barefoot is one of the fastest and simplest ways to ground yourself. So go ahead kick off your shoes and go for a walk outside. It doesn’t matter if you’re on sand or soil, as long as your feet have a direct connection to the earth you will be Earthing.

Connect with your Inner Child

A great way to connect with the earth is to connect with your inner child. Let them lose and go play! Take your pet out to roll around, or rough house with your kids. Let yourself be free and let that grounding energy course through and refuel you.

Embrace your Sign

If you are a fire sign then gather some wood and have a bonfire and breathe that warm soothing energy in deep. Water signs can find themselves a lake or beach and just plunge in head first. If you’re a water sign go ahead and kick those shoes off and turn your face up to the sky the next time it rains and you will find yourself  feeling restored in no time. For air signs the sand beneath your feet and the wind in your face can be both exhilarating and relaxing at the same time. If you don’t live near somewhere with open air, consider a hike up your nearest sky scraper to let that wind whip around you. Earth signs go get dirty! Dig a garden, or just lay in the grass and watch the sky roll by.
