Halloween, also known as All Hallows Eve and Samhain is the time of year that the veil between this world and the next is believed to be thinnest. Because of this many stories and traditions have been created for this day, as well as many religious beliefs and rituals. Many of these traditions and rituals involve honoring or even communing with the deceased. With the veil lowered and so much spirit contact going on it is important to protect yourself.

Whatever your own belief system is, be sure to use full protection especially during ritual or magical work on this day and night, even if what you are doing is “just for fun”. Mediumship is vastly easier at this time than at any other time of the year. So much so that even people who do not believe they are psychic may experience spiritual contact both while asleep and awake. This means that you may be performing psychic work without even intending to, so you should keep yourself fully protected during this time.

Personal psychic shield

One of the easiest ways to keep yourself protected during Halloween is to maintain a personal psychic shield. In a basic ground and center shield, you need to visualize yourself plugging the base of the spine into a root grounding into the Earth’s energy. Then bring energy up through the length of your spine and to the tip of your head. Next envision the energy spreading out from your core in a kind of egg shape, until your body is completely surrounded by a bubble of this energy. The edges of this bubble can be any consistency. For instance, hard rubber for impermeable shielding, softer and bouncier, or slightly permeable, if you want to let certain energies especially positive ones through.

Things to Avoid

Avoid Ouija boards, séances, mirror scrying and other known ‘dark’ forms of divination. In the spirit realm, they also know about Halloween, and so psychic vampire type spirits will be actively waiting to drain your energy if you tread too close to their realm while unprotected.

If you do intend to partake in divination or other rituals during Halloween you should take a few extra protection measures. For instance incorporate Onyx, obsidian, tourmaline, amethyst, tiger eye, quartz crystals. They are used for protection from psychic attack, danger, and emotional distress. You can also use oils with lots of green energy like Sandalwood, Lemon, Sage, or Tea Tree, the green light can help break up negative energies directed towards you, and can also help keep negative energy connections from attaching to you.
