Psychomerty and Clairtangency
Psychometry is the ability to sense information by touch. Usually, this relies on touch and tangible, physical objects. The word ‘psychometry’ literally means ‘measuring the soul’, and was coined by Joseph Rodes Buchanan in 1842. Most psychometrists, especially in the beginning, have to hold the object in their hands to be able to read it, this clear touch is often referred to as clairtangency. Further down the line, you may be able to sense or read the object without ever having to hold it at all. Psychometry has also been referred to as psychoscopy, and token-object reading, but psychometry is the most common term.
What information can be gathered
Psychometry is reading the energy of a physical object. The reading you will usually get will have to do with the object’s history. It might be glimpses of images, smells, emotions, sounds, or any of the other senses associated with memories and feeling. The object will have its own history and will also give you an idea of the history of its owner.
How do you do a reading
For small or lightweight objects, it is best to hold them in your hands or press them to your third eye, until your skills improve. For huge or heavy objects, simply placing your hands on the item should be enough. As long as you are comfortable and relaxed, these readings should be easy and fun. All objects, no matter how solid they appear, are porous, containing small or even minute holes. These minute crevices in the object’s surface collect minute fragments of the mental aura of the person possessing the object. Open yourself up to receiving what is held inside the object, think of it like pushing play on an old tape and listening to all of the static behind the actual music.
