A pendulum is a pendant, which is attached to a chain, necklace, or leather string. Some people secure a wedding ring on a string or chain. Others will wear them as a talisman or good luck amulet. However there is much more potential in a Pendulum than just luck. Not only is the pendulum the easiest divination tool to master, it is an auspicious way to get your intuitive abilities focused, while at the same time raising your overall vibration.

The basics

When a pendulum is used for spirit communication it can be called a spiritual pendulum. When a psychic uses a pendulum as a tool in a reading it is called a pendulum reading.  Pendulum scrying in a reading can be great for finding missing objects or people on a map. The can also help facilitate dialogue with higher selves, spirits and connections with the spiritual realm.

How to choose your pendulum

Like many metaphysical tools, such as tarot cards, you do not choose a pendulum, it chooses you. Select 5 or 6 pendulums that appeal to you aesthetically. Set them aside from the rest. Pick one up at a time, close your eyes and gently hold it in your closed fist. Do you feel tingles up and down your back? Does a pleasant warmth spread over your body? Keep testing your selections until you find the real right one.

Start using your pendulum

Sit down and put your elbow on the table. Hold the end of the chain or leather between your thumb and index finger keeping your palm downward. The crystal or pendant should be dangling about a foot ahead of you. Ask it out loud which way it will swing to answer a question “yes”. Next, ask your pendulum what direction it will move if the answer is “no”.  Finally, find out what it will do if it doesn’t know the answer. If you are brand new to divination it may take a bit for the energy to channel. Just watch and wait, it will move either side to side, in a circle, clockwise or counterclockwise or backward and forward. Take note of responses for future reference. Once you understand how it will answer you, you can begin asking it questions. It is best to start with questions you know the answers to until you are more familiar with the process.
